Tasting Notes
In the glass, La Landonne typically shows a deep, насыщенный dark ruby or garnet colour, reflecting its concentration and structure. The nose is intensely aromatic, often revealing black fruit, blackberry, olive, smoked meat, pepper, violet, and a distinct mineral edge. On the palate, it is full-bodied and profoundly structured, with layers of dark fruit, spice, savory notes, and firm tannins carried by excellent freshness. This is a wine built for the long haul, and in a vintage like 2021 it can be expected to reward careful cellaring for many years, developing greater complexity over time.

Production
La Landonne comes from a revered Côte-Rôtie vineyard site on extremely steep slopes of metamorphic schist, a terroir that contributes both intensity and lifted mineral character. The site’s exposure and difficult terrain favor low yields and concentrated fruit, while traditional harvesting is typically carried out by hand due to the steep vineyard conditions. Vinification at E. Guigal is known for precision and rigor, with long maceration and aging in oak barrels to build depth, structure, and complexity. The result is a wine that balances the muscular character of the site with remarkable finesse and aromatic detail.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for rich, flavorful dishes such as grilled lamb, venison, beef ribeye, slow-braised short ribs, or game birds with earthy sauces. It also pairs beautifully with truffle, mushrooms, and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for several hours if drinking young to allow the wine to open up and soften.
