Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay 2024 is one of New Zealand’s benchmark Chardonnays, combining precise winemaking with remarkable value. Made by Michael Brajkovich from carefully selected fruit across six vineyards, it has earned a reputation for outshining some of Burgundy’s most celebrated names in blind tastings.

Tasting Notes
Pale golden in the glass, it opens with lifted aromas of lemon and a touch of white peach. On the palate, it is silky and finely balanced, with bright citrus drive, subtle stone fruit, and a long, fresh finish that keeps everything focused and elegant. The wine is already very enjoyable now, but it has the structure and balance to develop beautifully over the next 4–6 years. With time in bottle, it should gain extra complexity while retaining its signature freshness and poise.

This Estate Chardonnay is crafted from the best fruit sourced from six different vineyards in Auckland, allowing the winery to build depth, balance, and consistency into the final blend. Kumeu River is known for its meticulous vineyard selection and careful cellar work, with the 2024 vintage reflecting the cool-climate precision and mineral-edged style that have made the estate famous.

Food & Serving
A superb match for scallops, oysters, lobster, grilled prawns, or other refined seafood dishes, as well as roast chicken with light cream sauces. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, though a little air can help it open up beautifully in the glass.
