K.F. Groebe Riesling Westhofener trocken Aus Ersten Lagen 2024

K. F. Groebe’s 2024 Westhofener Riesling trocken brings together fruit from two of the village’s finest sites, Aulerde and Kirchspiel, offering a distinctive expression of Westhofen. Ortsweine can be overshadowed by Grosses Gewächs wines, yet this bottling already shows clear site character and has very good potential to develop with age.

Tasting Notes
Juicy and expressive, it leads with classic Riesling fruit, complemented by hints of lemon balm and a subtle smoky note. On the palate, ripe yet brisk acidity provides energy and definition, while the wine balances Aulerde’s richness with Kirchspiel’s finesse and cool mineral character.

Production
The grapes come exclusively from Aulerde and Kirchspiel, neighbouring Westhofen sites with contrasting soils. Aulerde’s heavy loess contributes power, depth and opulence, while Kirchspiel’s high limestone content lends elegance, precision and cool minerality. Harvesting and vinification details are not provided.

Food & Serving
Enjoy with seafood, grilled fish, roast poultry or dishes featuring fresh herbs and citrus. Serve lightly chilled, around 9–11°C. A short time in a decanter can help the wine open, though it can also be enjoyed immediately after opening.
