Description

From Hatzenport’s dramatic Kirchberg vineyard, this Riesling Grosses Gewächs comes from one of the Mosel’s warmest, steepest sites. Its setting is part of the story of the Terrassenmosel, a name coined by producer Reinhard Löwenstein for the river’s steep, dry-stone-walled slopes.

Production
Kirchberg faces south on slopes with gradients of 100–150%, above the left bank of the Mosel. Its soil is hard, red, iron-oxide-rich slate with quartzite, and the site is considered one of the warmest along the river. The available information does not specify the 2025 harvest or winemaking details.

Food & Serving
Riesling is a versatile match for seafood, shellfish, poultry and dishes with a little spice. Serve lightly chilled, around 8–10°C; decanting is not usually necessary, though a brief airing can help the wine open if it seems restrained.

Producer
Weingut Heymann-Löwenstein is based in the Terrassenmosel, where its work is closely associated with the region’s steep vineyard landscape. Reinhard Löwenstein coined the term “Terrassenmosel” for the final stretch of the river, known for its picturesque dry-stone walls.

Heymann-Löwenstein is one of Mosel's most iconic producers and is known for Riesling with great depth, minerality, and terroir expression. Kirchberg Grosses Gewächs comes from one of the area's steep slate vineyards and combines intensity, precision, and remarkable aging potential. A dry top Riesling with power, finesse, and a pronounced mineral character that ranks among Mosel's greatest wines.

A true pioneer and predecessor to many of the greats spoken of today. At Heymann-Löwenstein, they believe there is more between heaven and earth. Therefore, you can experience a maturation cellar where there is a living spring of water at one end and organ pipes at the other that extend all the way out into the open air. Between wind, music, and water, wine must be raised. The story is beautiful and the wine is fantastic!
