Hacienda Monasterio 2023 brings together Ribera del Duero’s natural power and the freshness and precision that have made the estate a regional reference. Led by Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) with Cabernet Sauvignon, it reflects the elegant style associated with Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck.

Tasting Notes
The nose is clean, intense and refined, with fresh red and dark berries, cherry, floral notes and spice, touched by liquorice. Beneath the fruit, a distinctive chalky minerality comes through, while the oak remains discreet and well integrated. On the palate, juicy, concentrated fruit is balanced by lively freshness and exceptionally fine, silky tannins. A long, harmonious finish carries the wine’s mineral character. It is already enjoyable with some air and has the balance to develop gracefully in the cellar for many years.

Production
The grapes come from Hacienda Monasterio’s own organically farmed vineyards, where limestone-rich soils contribute to the wine’s mineral character. Following the demanding heat of 2022, the estate opted for an earlier harvest and gentler vinification with less extraction in 2023, preserving freshness and precision alongside ripe fruit and concentration. Specific harvesting methods and further vinification details are not provided.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C, allowing the wine to show its freshness and fine tannins. It would pair well with roast lamb, grilled beef, or savoury mushroom dishes. A short decant of around 30–60 minutes should open the wine while keeping its fresh, precise character in focus.
