Description

Grosjean’s Pinot Noir Valle d’Aosta DOC brings an Alpine perspective to the variety, combining silky tannins and red-fruit character with a distinctly dry, precise finish. Made from vines on steep, high-altitude slopes, it reflects a family winemaking tradition dating back to 1781 and the demanding local practice of heroic viticulture.

Tasting Notes
The nose opens with strawberry, raspberry and wild berries, followed by subtle toasted and balsamic notes. On the palate, the wine is dry and balanced, with a soft, velvety texture and persistent flavour.

Production
The Pinot Noir comes from vineyards in Quart and Saint-Christophe, at elevations of 600–850 metres. Steep slopes, strong sunlight and shallow, sandy-clay soils rich in mineral elements shape the wine’s precise character. The grapes are hand-harvested around mid-September; some whole bunches are included in the fermentation, which takes place under temperature control with regular punch-downs. Fermentation is carried out in large oak casks, followed by maturation in stainless steel and oak, then a period of bottle rest. The family’s vineyard approach prioritises sustainable practices and biodiversity.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 14–16°C with hearty starters, cheeses or grilled meats—particularly pork. A short period in the glass should allow the aromas to open; decanting is optional, but a brief decant can be helpful if the wine seems reserved.

Producer
The Grosjean family has made wine in Valle d’Aosta since 1781. Their vineyards in Quart and Saint-Christophe are a striking example of heroic Alpine viticulture, where steep terrain and high elevations make vineyard work especially demanding. The family has avoided insecticides since 1975 and continues to focus on sustainable vineyard management and the character of the region.
