Description

Giacomo Conterno Barolo Cerretta 2020 captures the powerful, mineral character of the Serralunga d’Alba vineyard, shaped by depth of fruit and firm, age-worthy tannins. Precise rather than overtly forceful, it is a serious single-vineyard Barolo, rated 97 points by both Wine Advocate and Vinous.

Tasting Notes
The nose opens with blood orange, raspberry, fresh plum and rhubarb, followed by rose, spice and dark-earth notes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated yet energetic, with a steadily building tannic structure and a long, firm finish. Its substantial tannins and concentration point to considerable aging potential. It can be enjoyed now after a long decant, but further bottle ageing should allow its character to unfold more fully.

Food & Serving
Serve with robust dishes such as braised beef, slow-cooked lamb or game, whose richness can complement the wine’s concentration and tannins. A long decant is recommended if opening it now; serve at around 16–18°C.
