Description

Giacomo Borgogno Langhe Bartome is a classic, organically made Nebbiolo from one of Piedmont’s most historic names. Born from the Langhe’s tradition and crafted from fruit sourced from a vineyard lineage dating back to 1761, it captures the elegance, perfume, and structure that make young Nebbiolo so compelling.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a vivid ruby red colour with purple reflections moving toward garnet at the rim. The nose is persistent and ethereal, with floral notes of violet and fresh red fruit, especially wild strawberries, in a style that feels unmistakably Nebbiolo. On the palate, it is harmonious and full-bodied, with a pleasing sense of sweetness to the fruit and lively tannins that give shape and freshness. It already offers excellent drinking now, while also hinting at the graceful evolution Nebbiolo can achieve with short- to medium-term cellaring.

Production
This organic red wine comes from Piedmont’s Langhe, an area renowned for producing expressive Nebbiolo with fragrance and finesse. The wine is made through spontaneous fermentation of whole berries, destemmed, in concrete tanks for around 15 days at 22–28°C, a method that helps preserve purity of fruit and varietal character. It is then aged for one year in large Slavonian oak casks, which support the wine without overpowering its delicate aromatics.

Food & Serving
A natural match for Piemonte cuisine, this wine pairs beautifully with mushroom risotto, tajarin with truffle, roasted poultry, veal, and braised meats. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider a short decant if drinking young to help open its floral aromatics and soften the tannins.
