Fontanafredda Barolo Vigna La Rosa is a refined expression of Nebbiolo from one of Barolo’s most prized historic crus in Serralunga d’Alba. Crafted from the prestigious Vigna La Rosa vineyard, it captures the elegance, depth, and complexity that have made Barolo one of Italy’s most celebrated wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet-red hue with brick-toned reflections that become more pronounced with age. The bouquet is clean and intense, unfolding with notes of vanilla, spice, dried roses, and undergrowth. On the palate, it is warm, soft, full-bodied, and velvety, with a beautifully balanced structure and a long, persistent finish. With time in bottle, it can gain additional nuance and tertiary complexity, making it well suited to careful cellaring.

Production
This Barolo comes from Vigna La Rosa, a historic cru in the commune of Serralunga d’Alba, where the terroir is particularly well suited to Nebbiolo’s finesse and structure. Fontanafredda works organically, and the wine is made using traditional fermentation with extended skin maceration to build aroma and tannin complexity. It is then aged for around 12 months in Allier oak barrels, followed by a further year in 2,000-3,000-liter Allier casks before release.

A natural partner for rich Piedmontese dishes, braised meats, game, truffle risotto, and aged cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1-2 hours when young to allow the wine to खुल fully and soften its tannins.
