Feudi San Gregorio Taurasi Piano di Montevergine Riserva 2018 is a benchmark expression of Aglianico from one of Campania’s most celebrated DOCG appellations. Deeply rooted in Taurasi’s ancient winemaking heritage, this Riserva combines structure, perfume, and aging depth with the distinctive elegance that has made the region famous.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby red color that gradually develops light orange reflections with age. The bouquet is fruit-forward and layered, with notes of berries, blackberries, and a subtle earthy warmth that reflects its southern Italian origins. On the palate, it is dry, full-flavored, and pleasantly aromatic, with firm tannins and the concentration expected from Aglianico. While approachable in its youth, this wine is built for the cellar and can age gracefully for many years, gaining finesse and complexity over time.

Production
Produced from Aglianico grown in the Piano di Montevergine vineyard in the Avellino province, this wine comes from a terroir shaped by hazelnut and olive trees, which contribute to its distinctive character. Taurasi is required to age for at least three years before release, and Feudi di San Gregorio follows a traditional refinement approach with 18 months in oak barrels and a further two years in bottle before commercial release.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine, especially well suited to roasted meats, game, braised dishes, aged cheeses, and rich Mediterranean cuisine. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for at least an hour is recommended, particularly if the bottle is opened young.
