Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2019 Ducru-Beaucaillou typically shows a deep, youthful color with excellent intensity. The nose is layered and expressive, with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, violet, and a subtle mineral edge, while the palate is structured yet polished, with fine tannins, concentrated dark fruit, and a long, savoury finish. This is a wine built for the cellar, with the balance and depth to evolve beautifully over time. While it can be approached with patience in its youth, it will reward extended aging, gradually revealing greater complexity, finesse, and aromatic detail over the next two decades and beyond.

Production
Ducru-Beaucaillou’s vineyards lie on the prized gravelly terroirs of Saint-Julien, where excellent drainage and the moderating influence of the Gironde estuary help Cabernet Sauvignon achieve full ripeness and precision. The estate is known for careful vineyard work and selective harvesting, followed by traditional vinification with an emphasis on purity, structure, and elegance.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roast lamb, beef fillet, game dishes, duck breast, and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to open and soften.
