Donnafugata Zibibbo Lighea 2025

Donnafugata Lighea is a beautifully aromatic Sicilian white wine made from 100% Zibibbo, capturing the sunny, expressive character of the island in every glass. Crafted by one of Sicily’s most iconic family producers, it combines fragrance, freshness, and a distinctly Mediterranean personality that has made the Sicilia DOC famous far beyond its shores.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Lighea shows a clear straw-yellow colour with subtle green reflections, hinting at its freshness and vibrancy. The nose is immediately generous and perfumed, unfolding notes of orange blossom, lemon, bergamot, and exotic fruit in a rich, elegant bouquet. On the palate, the wine mirrors its aromatic profile with layers of citrus and floral flavours, supported by a lively freshness and very good length. The finish is pleasantly mineral, giving the wine extra precision and making it especially enjoyable in its youth, though it can hold its charm over the next few years.

Production
The Zibibbo grapes for Lighea are harvested from the second half of August through mid-September, allowing Donnafugata to capture the variety’s natural fragrance and bright acidity at the right moment. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a cool 14–16°C to preserve the purity of the aromatics, followed by two months of ageing in tank and a further three months in bottle before release.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile white wine for Mediterranean cuisine, pairing beautifully with seafood, shellfish, sushi, grilled vegetables, light pasta dishes, and fresh cheeses. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C; decanting is not necessary, though a few minutes in the glass will help its aromas open up.
