Domaine Saint-Damien’s Gigondas La Louisiane 2022 is a generous, characterful expression of the southern Rhône, combining ripe fruit and warm spice with an elegant, balanced structure. Made from a single parcel of old vines, it reflects the depth and distinctive garrigue-scented personality associated with Gigondas.

Tasting Notes
The nose is intense and inviting, with wild strawberry, ripe cherry and dark raspberry alongside violet, liquorice, pepper and aromatic garrigue. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and broad, with generous fruit, silky texture and ripe, polished tannins. Savoury herbal and spicy notes emerge as it opens, leading to a long finish marked by dark fruit and liquorice. Enjoy it now for its open fruit and supple structure, or cellar it to allow its depth and savoury complexity to develop further.

Production
La Louisiane comes from a single Domaine Saint-Damien parcel planted with old vines: Grenache in 1942, Cinsault in 1951 and Mourvèdre in 1977. The wine is matured for around 12 months in large oak foudres and bottled without fining or filtration. Specific details about the parcel’s soils, harvesting and vinification are not provided.
