Description

Domaine Porte Rouge’s AURA is a distinctive Châteauneuf-du-Pape that showcases the finesse of the sandy Colombis vineyard. Made predominantly from old-vine Grenache, it is the second vintage of a cuvée first released in 2021.

Tasting Notes
AURA is a clear, translucent ruby red in the glass. Its expressive bouquet brings together delicate strawberry, kirsch, white pepper, garrigue and notes of forest floor. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with refreshing lift and a clean, structured finish that lingers. Its balance and structure suggest it can develop further in bottle; enjoy it now or allow it to mature for several years.

Production
The wine comes from old vines on the sandy soils of the Colombis vineyard, a site whose terroir is said to lend the cuvée its finesse. Grenache makes up 90% of the blend, with the remainder drawn from other local varieties. It is gently fermented over three weeks, then aged for 24 months in used Burgundy oak barrels. Harvesting details were not provided.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C alongside roast lamb, grilled beef, herb-crusted vegetables or a selection of aged cheeses. A short decant of 30–60 minutes can help open the wine’s aromatic range, particularly if enjoying it young.
