Description

Domaine Lapierre’s Morgon is a benchmark expression of Beaujolais, made from Gamay in one of the region’s most celebrated crus. The Lapierre family name carries real historical weight among natural wine lovers, thanks to Marcel Lapierre’s pioneering role in organic farming and low-intervention winemaking from the early 1980s onward.

Tasting Notes
Expect a vivid, youthful ruby color with a glossy, inviting sheen. The nose is typically lifted and aromatic, offering ripe red berries, black cherry, violets, and a subtle earthy, stony edge typical of Morgon. On the palate, this is juicy and supple, with bright fruit, energetic freshness, and a deep mineral core that gives the wine shape and persistence. Morgon is known for producing some of the most structured Gamay in Beaujolais, so while this wine is enjoyable in its youth, it also has the balance and concentration to age gracefully for several years.

Production
Grown in the Morgon cru of Beaujolais, the wine comes from a terroir known for its decomposed schist and granite soils, which lend the wines depth, mineral tension, and a more serious profile than many other Beaujolais villages. The grapes are typically harvested by hand and vinified with a low-intervention approach, reflecting the Lapierre family’s commitment to organic viticulture and minimal additions in the cellar.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast chicken, duck, charcuterie, mushroom dishes, and classic French bistro fare. Serve it slightly chilled, around 14–16°C, and decant briefly if you’d like to open up the aromas in its youth.

Producer
Domaine Lapierre is one of the most iconic names in Beaujolais and a reference point for natural wine worldwide. Marcel Lapierre helped define the modern natural wine movement, inspired by the work of Jules Chauvet and committed to organic farming and minimal intervention long before it became widely recognized. Today, the family continues his legacy, maintaining the estate’s reputation for purity, precision, and wines with unmistakable character.
