Description

“Aubaine” means “a stroke of luck”—a fitting name for this Pouilly-Fumé, drawn from an exceptional patch of Portland limestone in the Loire Valley. Made from Sauvignon Blanc, the 2023 vintage offers a poised, quietly expressive take on the appellation, shaped by old vines and extended ageing on the lees.

Tasting Notes
The nose brings ripe yellow fruit and fully ripe gooseberry, with gentle green-fruit nuances, beeswax and a restrained, mineral character. On the palate, it is an elegant, understated expression of Sauvignon Blanc rather than an overtly aromatic one. Give it ample air before tasting so its aromas can open fully; enjoy it while its fruit and freshness are at their best.

Production
The grapes come from individual parcels in the lieu-dit Les Champs de Cris, where weathered Portland limestone—known locally as caillottes—defines the soils. The vines are up to 50 years old, and yields are limited to 35 hl/ha. The wine is aged on its lees for 18 months in concrete tanks. The product is described as organic; specific harvesting and certification details are not provided.
