Domaine G. Roumier’s Bonnes-Mares 2017 is a standout Grand Cru Pinot Noir that captures both the finesse of Chambolle-Musigny and the structure of Morey-Saint-Denis. Sourced from old vines on a limestone- and clay-rich site strewn with stones, it reflects one of Burgundy’s most celebrated terroirs and a long tradition of meticulous, low-intervention winemaking.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, refined ruby color. The nose is expressive and precise, opening with red cherries and raspberries, then unfolding into subtle floral tones, spice, and a chalky mineral edge. The palate is silky and finely structured, with ripe tannins, fresh acidity, and impressive depth. There is both elegance and energy here, leading to a long, vibrant finish. While already beautifully balanced in youth, this vintage has the concentration and poise to age gracefully for many years.

Production
Bonnes-Mares sits between Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis, on a terroir of limestone and clay with a high proportion of stones that contributes both tension and structure. The grapes are hand-harvested from old vines, then vinified traditionally with precision and minimal intervention. The wine is aged for around 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, with a moderate share of new oak used to support rather than overshadow the site’s character.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with dishes that match its elegance and depth, such as duck breast, roast pigeon, mushroom risotto, veal, or lamb with fine herbs. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting is recommended if drinking young, especially to open the aromatics and soften the texture.
