Description

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti 2008 is a benchmark of great Burgundy and one of the most sought-after wines in the world. From its tiny 1.8-hectare monopole, this legendary Pinot Noir delivers a singular expression of finesse, precision, and terroir-driven depth, shaped by one of the most iconic vineyard sites in wine history.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an alluring, deeply nuanced profile with aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, violet, and rose petal. With air, more complex layers emerge: tea leaf, forest floor, exotic spice, and a fine mineral edge that adds remarkable aromatic depth. The palate is silken and impeccably balanced, combining vivid fruit, lively freshness, and exquisitely refined tannins. Rather than sheer power, the wine impresses through harmony, energy, and length; the finish is exceptionally persistent and continues to unfold with notes of fruit, spice, and unmistakable terroir. The 2008 vintage has outstanding aging potential and will continue to reward long cellaring.

Production
Romanée-Conti comes from one of Burgundy’s most famous Grand Cru vineyards, a monopole of just 1.8 hectares in the heart of Vosne-Romanée. The site’s exceptional exposure and limestone-rich soils are central to its precision and complexity. The 2008 vintage was shaped by challenging growing conditions, yet careful vineyard work and meticulous vinification at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti resulted in a wine of remarkable purity, elegance, and structure.

Food & Serving
Best enjoyed with refined dishes that complement rather than overpower its delicacy, such as roast duck, pigeon, truffled poultry, veal, or earthy mushroom preparations. Serve at around 16-18°C and decant only lightly, if at all, especially when young; older bottles should be handled gently to preserve their perfume and texture.

Producer
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, often abbreviated as DRC, is one of Burgundy’s most prestigious producers and a name synonymous with excellence. With a long history of producing some of the region’s most celebrated wines, the estate is internationally revered for its Grand Cru holdings, meticulous craftsmanship, and extraordinary consistency. Romanée-Conti is its most iconic bottling and a true reference point for Pinot Noir at the highest level.
