Di Majo Norante Molise Rosso Don Luigi Riserva 2020 is a characterful red from Italy’s lesser-known Molise region, crafted with a careful selection of Montepulciano and Tintilia grapes. It combines traditional winemaking with small-oak ageing, resulting in a wine that reflects both the heritage and the expressive personality of southern Italy.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, concentrated ruby colour with an inviting intensity. The nose opens with ripe dark berries, plum, spice, and subtle toasted oak, alongside earthy and savoury undertones that add complexity. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with generous black fruit, fresh acidity, and firm tannins that give the wine shape and length. The oak ageing brings notes of vanilla, cocoa, and sweet spice, while the finish is long and persistent. It has good ageing potential and should continue to gain nuance over the next several years.

Production
This wine comes from carefully selected grapes grown in Molise, where the Mediterranean climate and varied soils help preserve both ripeness and freshness. The fruit is harvested with selection in mind, then vinified traditionally with extended maceration for long skin contact, allowing for colour, texture, and flavour extraction. It is then matured in small oak barrels to add depth and refinement.

Food & Serving
Ideal with hearty dishes such as grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, game, and rich braises, as well as aged cheeses and rustic pasta dishes with meat sauces. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about an hour to let the wine fully open and soften.
