Description
Delamotte Brut is a classic expression of Champagne, offering the kind of elegance, freshness, and finesse that makes it such a trusted choice for celebrations and refined aperitifs. Produced by one of Champagne’s historic houses, it reflects a long tradition of crafting balanced, precise sparkling wines with broad appeal.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Delamotte Brut typically shows a bright pale gold color with a lively mousse and fine, persistent bubbles. On the nose, it opens with fresh citrus, green apple, white flowers, and subtle brioche notes, while the palate is crisp and poised, combining orchard fruit, lemon zest, and a gentle mineral edge.
The finish is clean and refreshing, with enough texture to feel generous without losing its tension. While it is made to be enjoyed for its freshness, it can also hold well over a few years, gaining a touch more complexity and depth with time.
Production
As a Champagne from France’s renowned Champagne region, Delamotte Brut is shaped by the cool climate and chalk-rich soils that give the wine its signature freshness and structure. The grapes are typically harvested by hand, as is customary in Champagne, to preserve quality and ensure only the best fruit is selected. Vinification follows traditional Champagne methods, including secondary fermentation in bottle to create its fine bubbles and refined mousse.
Food & Serving
Delamotte Brut is wonderfully versatile at the table and pairs especially well with oysters, shellfish, sushi, light fish dishes, and delicate poultry preparations. It also works beautifully as an aperitif. Serve well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is not recommended; simply open and enjoy while the wine is fresh and vibrant.
Producer
Delamotte is one of the historic houses of Champagne, with roots going back to the 18th century, and is closely associated with the nearby village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the region’s most respected terroirs. Over the years, the house has earned a strong reputation for producing elegant, precise Champagnes that showcase purity and balance. Today, Delamotte is recognized as a classic name in the region, admired for its understated style and consistent quality.
