Description

Dal Forno’s 2006 Amarone della Valpolicella Monte Lodoletta is a powerful, richly concentrated wine from a challenging vintage in the Valpolicella region. It reflects the estate’s role in the generation of producers that helped bring the area international recognition, following pioneers such as Giuseppe Quintarelli.

Tasting Notes
Deep, almost ink-dark in appearance, it opens with aromas of dried fruit, pressed blackberry and sun-dried plum. The palate is full-bodied and exceptionally rich, with a pronounced sweet-fruited character, notes of jammy fruit and raisin, and reported residual sugar of around 10 g/L. This vintage can take time to open up, but a well-stored bottle may now show greater generosity and complexity. Its concentration and structure give it the potential to evolve over a long period in the cellar; decanting can help reveal its aromas when young or still reticent.

Production
The estate cultivated around 25 hectares in 2006. The growing season was difficult, with hail and above-average rainfall through much of the year. Detailed information about the vineyard sites, harvest methods and vinification for this bottling is not available in the supplied notes.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C. Its generous, dried-fruit character suits braised or roasted beef, game, and aged hard cheeses; it can also be enjoyed slowly on its own after a meal. Decant for one to two hours, particularly if the bottle initially seems closed, and taste as it opens.

Producer
Dal Forno was among the influential Valpolicella producers whose work helped establish the region’s modern reputation, alongside the earlier example of Quintarelli. By 2006, a new generation of winemakers was building on that legacy and earning attention for the quality of its wines.
