Cortese Orange-utan Bianco Siciliane Bio 2025 is a distinctive organic orange wine from Sicily, crafted from the classic local grapes Inzolia and Zibibbo. It combines Mediterranean freshness, aromatic intensity, and a gently tannic, structured style that makes it both characterful and highly food-friendly.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright golden-orange hue with an inviting, lively sheen. The nose is expressive and layered, opening with orange peel, ripe stone fruit, dried citrus, Mediterranean herbs, and a subtle touch of spice. On the palate, the wine is full-flavored yet fresh, with a lightly tannic grip from extended skin contact and a vibrant line of acidity that keeps everything lifted. A mineral, persistent finish adds length and elegance. While already very enjoyable now, its structure and balance suggest it can hold well over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from the sunny Mediterranean vineyards around Cerasuolo di Vittoria in southeastern Sicily, where the warm climate and ecological approach support ripe fruit and strong varietal expression. The fruit is hand-harvested in small crates in mid-September to preserve freshness and quality, then destemmed and gently pressed before being vinified separately. Inzolia macerates on the skins for 2–3 weeks, while the more aromatic Zibibbo remains on the skins for up to 6 weeks. During fermentation, gentle daily punch-downs are carried out to extract aroma, texture, and complexity without overwhelming the wine. After blending, the wine spends around three months on fine lees and is then kept in stainless steel to preserve its bright, Mediterranean character.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile gastronomic orange wine that pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, grilled fish, saffron dishes, creamy risottos, spicy Middle Eastern or North African cuisine, and medium-aged cheeses. Serve it slightly chilled at 10–12°C, and consider a short decant if you want to open up its aromatic layers.

Azienda Agricola Cortese is based in the Cerasuolo di Vittoria area of southeastern Sicily, a region known for warm conditions and strong potential for organic viticulture. The estate was long run by Giovanna Cortese before being taken over in 2016 by Stefano and Marina Girelli from Trento, who have modernized the winery while staying true to the area’s traditions and terroir. Today, Cortese is recognized for its 100% organic philosophy, with a strong focus on sustainability, biodiversity, and minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar. The result is a portfolio of wines with clear Sicilian identity and a strong sense of place.
