The nose opens with pure black fruit – blackberry compote, cassis and wild blueberry – layered with dark plum, violets and hints of rockrose, followed by subtle notes of cocoa, licorice, cracked pepper and a touch of graphite. These traditional field‑blend parcels of Tinta Barroca, Tinta Cão, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz are typically hand‑harvested at optimal ripeness to preserve both concentration and freshness. In classic Porto fashion, the grapes are crushed (often in lagares) to encourage gentle extraction of color and tannin, then the fermenting must is fortified with high‑quality grape spirit at the precise moment to retain natural grape sweetness and structure. The young Port is then aged in large vats and/or neutral wood in the Douro, allowing the components to harmonize before selection and bottling as a declared Vintage Port.
