Clos du Marquis 1995 is a classic Saint-Julien from one of Bordeaux’s most respected names, offering the structure, refinement and longevity that collectors look for in mature left bank wine. Originally created as the second wine of Léoville Las Cases, it has long been valued for delivering a true Saint-Julien character at a more accessible level than the grand vin.

Tasting Notes
With age, the wine typically shows a deep garnet hue that has begun to soften at the rim. The bouquet is mature and layered, often moving from blackcurrant and cedar to cigar box, dried herbs, tobacco and earthy cedarwood notes. On the palate, it is usually medium to full-bodied, with finely resolved tannins, bright acidity and a savory, elegant finish. The 1995 vintage should offer impressive balance and freshness, with enough structure to continue showing well for several more years depending on storage.

Production
Clos du Marquis comes from vineyards in the Saint-Julien appellation on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, where gravel-rich soils and a temperate maritime climate help Cabernet Sauvignon and supporting varieties ripen slowly and evenly. The wine is traditionally harvested by hand and vinified with care to preserve precision, balance and the classic firmness associated with the region.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds and mushroom-based dishes. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if the bottle has been well stored to help the aromatics open fully.
