Description

Claire Naudin’s Échezeaux Grand Cru 2023 is a striking expression of Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most celebrated vineyard names. Sourced from a historic Grand Cru site in Vosne-Romanée, it combines finesse, depth, and unmistakable Burgundian nuance.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine is expected to show a bright, translucent ruby color typical of fine Pinot Noir, with exceptional clarity and elegance. Aromatically, Échezeaux often offers a refined bouquet of red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, spice, and subtle earthiness, with the 2023 vintage likely lending fresh vibrancy and precision. On the palate, it should balance silky texture with layered red and dark berry fruit, delicate tannins, and a long, mineral-driven finish. Grand Cru Burgundy from this site can age beautifully, gaining complexity over time with notes of forest floor, truffle, and dried flowers developing over 10–20 years or more, depending on the cellar.

Production
Échezeaux Grand Cru comes from a prized terroir in the Côte de Nuits, where limestone and clay soils help Pinot Noir develop both perfume and structure. In Burgundy, grapes are typically hand-harvested to preserve fruit quality, and careful sorting ensures only the best berries enter the cellar. Vinification is usually carried out with a restrained, parcel-focused approach to highlight site expression, followed by ageing in oak to support texture without masking the wine’s natural finesse.

Food & Serving
This is a wine best served with refined dishes such as roast duck, pigeon, venison, wild mushrooms, or truffled poultry. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if the wine is young, to help it open and show its aromatic detail.
