Cheval des Andes 2019 is a flagship red from Mendoza, often described as the “Grand Cru of the Andes,” created through the partnership of Cheval Blanc and Terrazas de los Andes. It brings together the vivid intensity of Argentine Malbec with the poise and structure of a fine Bordeaux-style blend, making it one of the region’s most celebrated modern wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep intense purple hue with violet reflections and a dark core. The nose is highly refined and precise, opening with fresh cassis and blackberry, followed by subtle spice, discreet oak, and elegant notes of dark chocolate and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is rich and expansive yet beautifully lifted, with soft acidity and mature, velvety tannins that give it great finesse. The finish is long and complex, echoing the dark fruit and chocolate tones with remarkable purity and freshness. While already impressive, it has the structure and balance to age gracefully for many years.

Production
Cheval des Andes is crafted in Mendoza from a blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, combining the expressive character of high-altitude Argentine fruit with the classic architecture of Bordeaux varieties. The wine reflects the freshness and precision associated with the region’s mountain terroir, resulting in a style that balances power, elegance, and vibrancy.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, or slow-cooked game dishes, as well as truffle-based or mushroom-rich preparations. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the aromatic complexity and refined tannins to fully open.
