Description

Château Montrose 2014 is the estate’s first wine, crafted with exceptionally strict selection at every stage of production. A Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Estèphe, it combines structure, elegance, and refinement in a style built to mature beautifully over time.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the deep, concentrated color typical of serious Bordeaux. The bouquet is delicate yet complex, with layered aromas that gradually unfold with air. On the palate, the 2014 vintage is structured and precise, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. It offers a refined balance of power and finesse, with excellent length and the kind of complexity that rewards patience. This is a wine with significant aging potential and exceptional longevity.

Production
Château Montrose 2014 is produced from the estate’s premium first selection, which accounts for only about 35–40% of total production. The wine is shaped by rigorous parcel-by-parcel and batch-by-batch selection, then matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new. The result reflects the classic terroir of Saint-Estèphe, where gravelly soils and the proximity to the Gironde help produce wines with depth, freshness, and structure.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for classic Bordeaux fare such as roast lamb, beef ribeye, duck breast, or game dishes, as well as truffle-infused recipes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for a few hours if drinking young to allow the wine to open fully.

Producer
Château Montrose is one of the most respected estates in Saint-Estèphe and a longstanding Grand Cru Classé of Bordeaux. Known for producing wines of power, precision, and longevity, the château has built a strong reputation for quality through meticulous vineyard work and careful winemaking. Its first wine is highly sought after and often considered one of the benchmark expressions of the appellation.
