Description

Château de Roquefort Corail Rosé Côtes de Provence Bio 2023 is a vibrant, organically farmed rosé that captures the easy elegance and salty breeze of coastal Provence. Crafted from a classic Mediterranean blend including Cinsault, Grenache Noir, Rolle and Syrah, it offers delicacy without ever feeling simple. This cuvée has become a modern reference for seriously drinkable Provence rosé, uniting purity of fruit, subtle spice and a refreshing mineral backbone.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Corail Rosé shows a luminous, pale salmon hue with delicate copper highlights – the quintessential Provence colour. The nose opens with fine notes of white peach, blood orange and pink grapefruit, lifted by hints of citrus zest, wild strawberry and a twist of Mediterranean herbs. Underneath the fruit lies a subtle stony, almost flinty character that adds an appetising tension. On the palate, the wine is juicy yet precise, with a filigree texture and beautifully balanced acidity. Fresh stone fruit and citrus meet nuances of pomegranate, white flowers and a gentle, peppery spice from Syrah. The finish is clean, dry and mouth-watering, marked by a saline, chalky minerality that invites another sip. While designed for youthful enjoyment within 1–3 years of the vintage, Corail has enough structure and freshness to develop a bit more complexity over the short term, gaining softer texture and a touch of savoury depth with a year in bottle.

Production
Château de Roquefort lies east of Marseille in the heart of Provence, where vineyards sit on cool, elevated sites of clay and limestone that lend both ripeness and a distinctive mineral clarity to the wines. Farmed organically (Bio), the estate relies on careful, largely manual work in the vines to preserve the health of the soils and the natural balance of the grapes. Harvesting is timed to capture freshness and aromatic intensity, with the different varieties picked and sorted separately. In the cellar, the must is gently pressed and vinified at controlled temperatures in stainless steel and concrete tanks, a minimalist approach that protects the delicate colour, aromatics and tension of the blend without masking it in oak.

Food & Serving
This is a highly versatile food rosé that shines alongside Mediterranean cuisine: think grilled sea bream, prawns, bouillabaisse, salade niçoise, or simply oysters with a squeeze of lemon. It also pairs beautifully with sushi, lightly spiced Asian dishes, charcuterie, Provençal vegetable tarts, goat’s cheese and summer salads with fresh herbs. Serve well chilled at around 8–10 °C; if too cold, give the wine a few minutes in the glass to open up its aromatics. Decanting is not necessary, but pouring into larger white-wine glasses will enhance its texture and subtle mineral notes.

Producer
Château de Roquefort is an independent estate rooted in the limestone hills east of Marseille, where vines have been cultivated since antiquity. Under the guidance of owner-winemaker Raimond de Villeneuve, the domaine has become known as one of the characterful, terroir-driven voices of Côtes de Provence, with a strong commitment to organic farming and low-intervention winemaking. Roquefort’s wines, especially its Corail rosé, have helped underline that Provence rosé can be both refreshingly easy to drink and genuinely complex, earning the estate a loyal following among sommeliers and wine lovers who seek authenticity and a true taste of the region.
