Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2017 is a refined vintage Blanc de Blancs Champagne made exclusively from Chardonnay. As the first release of this prestige cuvée to include wine from the Grand Cru village of Chouilly, it brings added chalky precision to the wine’s signature elegance, structure and extraordinary length. A distinctive addition to the Blanc des Millénaires lineage, it is already compelling but has the pedigree to develop further in the cellar.

Tasting Notes
Bright and precise in the glass, the 2017 opens with subtle aromas of honeysuckle and jasmine, followed by evocative notes of wet stone, steel, chalk and watercress. A delicate touch of white peach adds fruit definition without compromising its mineral character. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with remarkable transparency and clarity. Refined yet structured, the wine combines a taut mineral core with a persistent, seamless finish that seems to continue indefinitely. It can be enjoyed now for its freshness and detail, or cellared to allow further complexity to emerge.

Production
This Blanc de Blancs is produced from Chardonnay sourced from Champagne’s renowned chalk-rich Grand Cru terroirs, including Chouilly for the first time in the 2017 vintage. The region’s chalk soils provide excellent drainage while retaining water, helping the vines produce grapes with both concentration and vibrant acidity. The careful selection of sites and the extended maturation typical of this prestige cuvée allow the wine to develop its distinctive balance of precision, texture and longevity.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 10–12°C in a white-wine or tulip-shaped Champagne glass to reveal its layered aromas and mineral detail. It is an excellent partner for oysters, scallops, langoustine, sushi and delicate shellfish dishes, while its structure also suits roast poultry, turbot or lightly truffled dishes. Decanting is not essential and may disperse some of the wine’s fine bubbles, but a brief rest in the glass can help its aromas unfold.
