Description

Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier’s Chambolle-Musigny 2017 is a refined expression of one of Burgundy’s most admired village appellations. Known for its elegance, perfume, and silken texture, it captures the charm and precision that make Chambolle-Musigny so sought after among Pinot Noir lovers.

Tasting Notes
Expect a graceful ruby hue in the glass, with aromas that can range from red cherry and wild strawberry to rose petal, violet, and a subtle earthy spice. On the palate, the wine is typically delicate yet layered, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and a long, mineral-tinged finish that emphasizes finesse over power. With time in bottle, Chambolle-Musigny can gain additional complexity, developing more pronounced forest floor, truffle, and savory notes while retaining its aromatic lift. The 2017 vintage should reward medium-term aging, though it may also be enjoyed earlier for its freshness and purity.

Production
Produced in Chambolle-Musigny in the Côte de Nuits, this wine comes from a terroir of limestone-rich soils that help shape the site’s signature delicacy and aromatic precision. The grapes are typically harvested by hand in Burgundy, with vinification focused on preserving the finesse and character of Pinot Noir, followed by élevage in oak to add structure without overwhelming the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for fine poultry, roast duck, veal, mushroom dishes, and delicate game such as pigeon or quail. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if opening young, to allow the aromas to open gradually.

Producer
Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier is one of the most respected names in Burgundy, renowned for producing wines of exceptional purity, balance, and elegance. Based in Chambolle-Musigny, the domaine has built a strong reputation for its meticulous work in the vineyard and cellar, and its wines are widely admired by collectors for their consistency and finesse.
