Description
Catena Zapata’s Adrianna Vineyard Fortuna Terrae Malbec is a flagship single-vineyard wine that captures the high-altitude precision and concentration that have made Mendoza famous. Grown at 1,366 meters above sea level in one of Argentina’s most celebrated sites, it combines powerful fruit with remarkable mineral depth and a strong sense of place.
Tasting Notes
Deep, vivid purple in the glass, this Malbec immediately shows the intensity you would expect from a top Adrianna Vineyard bottling. The nose is captivating and layered, with blackberry and dried strawberry at the core, followed by notes of damp earth, green tea, dried flowers, stone, and a delicate dusty nuance that adds lift and complexity.
On the palate, it is full-bodied, taut, and highly concentrated, with a dense structure that gives the wine both power and poise. The flavors mirror the aromatics, but with even greater depth and nuance, showing the stony, calcareous character of the site alongside ripe dark fruit. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, built to evolve gracefully over many years.
Production
Fortuna Terrae comes from a single vineyard within Catena Zapata’s Adrianna site in Gualtallary, Mendoza, where the vines grow at 1,366 meters on alluvial soils rich in limestone. The combination of altitude, cool temperatures, and mineral-driven soils helps preserve freshness while concentrating flavor. Harvest is carried out carefully to capture optimal ripeness, and vinification is designed to emphasize purity, texture, and the vineyard’s distinctive terroir.
Food & Serving
This Malbec pairs beautifully with premium beef, grilled lamb, slow-roasted meats, and richly flavored dishes such as mushroom risotto or truffle-based pasta. It also works well with hard aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the wine’s aromatic complexity and firm structure to open up.
