Carsten Saalwächter’s Weißer Burgunder Hoher Fels is his flagship Pinot Blanc, made from a distinctive limestone site in Ingelheim. It stands at the top of his Pinot Blanc range, with only the most individual barrels selected for the final wine; Saalwächter first became known for his singular Silvaners.

Tasting Notes
The nose is restrained rather than overtly fruity, with hints of citrus and Granny Smith apple alongside shell-like, seaweed and flinty notes. On the palate, the wine continues with a focused, mineral character and a saline edge. Specific appearance and ageing details are not provided.

Production
The Hoher Fels vines grow in a slightly north-facing parcel above an old quarry, rooted in pure limestone rock. The final cuvée is selected from only the finest and most distinctive barrels. Harvesting and vinification details are not specified.
