Description
Cap de Coste Rosé 2024 is a bright, refreshing southern French rosé crafted exclusively from Cinsault, one of Languedoc’s most traditional grapes. In a region where international varieties like Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon often steal the spotlight, this wine proudly showcases just how well Cinsault shines in rosé form. Delicate, dry-leaning and irresistibly drinkable, it captures the sun-drenched charm of the Mediterranean in a pale, refined style.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Cap de Coste Rosé 2024 shows a delicate, light pink hue with a subtle salmon tint—clean, luminous and very inviting. The nose is fresh and precise, with an intriguing bouquet of freshly cracked red peppercorns, redcurrants and a touch of crunchy red berries, wrapped in a gentle floral lift.
On the palate, the wine is off-dry yet feels wonderfully crisp, thanks to vibrant acidity and a clean, refreshing finish. Flavours of redcurrant, wild strawberry and raspberry take the lead, with that spicy red pepper nuance adding a savoury edge and extra interest. The texture is light to medium-bodied, with a mouth-watering, almost saline snap that keeps you coming back for another sip. Aged entirely in stainless steel, this rosé is made for early drinking and is at its best within 1–2 years of the vintage, when its bright fruit and freshness are at their peak.
Production
Cap de Coste Rosé 2024 comes from sun-bathed vineyards in Languedoc, where Mediterranean breezes and stony, well-drained soils help Cinsault develop aromatic delicacy rather than heaviness. The grapes are harvested very early in the morning while temperatures are still cool, preserving acidity and protecting the fruit from oxidation. On arrival at the cellar, the bunches are swiftly destemmed to avoid any green or bitter notes from the stems. A short maceration on the skins of around 24 hours gently draws out the pale, salmon-pink colour and delicate aromatics. The juice is then fermented at low temperatures in stainless-steel tanks, a slow, cool fermentation designed to lock in maximum freshness and pure red-berry character. The wine is matured on fine lees in tank before bottling, with no oak influence, to keep the style clean, vibrant and fruit-driven.
Food & Serving
Cap de Coste Rosé 2024 is a natural choice for summer evenings on the terrace and is equally enjoyable on its own or with food. It pairs beautifully with light salads, grilled vegetables, fresh goat cheese, charcuterie, simple roasted chicken, and Mediterranean dishes such as niçoise salad or grilled prawns with herbs and lemon. Serve well-chilled at around 8–10°C to highlight its crispness and aromatic lift. Decanting is not necessary—this is a wine meant to be opened, poured and enjoyed in its youthful, refreshing prime.
Producer
Cap de Coste is a quality-focused producer rooted in the Languedoc, a region long known as the workhorse of French wine and now celebrated for its outstanding value and characterful bottlings. Embracing the area’s traditional grape varieties, Cap de Coste has made Cinsault a central part of its identity, championing its suitability for finely crafted rosé in a landscape increasingly dominated by international grapes. With careful vineyard management, cool harvesting and modern, temperature-controlled vinification, the estate produces wines that are both true to their Mediterranean origins and refreshingly contemporary in style. Cap de Coste’s rosés, in particular, have become local favourites for their precision, drinkability and faithful expression of Languedoc’s sun, sea breezes and stony soils.
