Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Rosé shows a fine, elegant mousse and a pale, luminous pink hue. The nose is striking and layered, with crushed stone, white pepper, red berries, mint, and blood orange giving it both freshness and aromatic intensity. On the palate, it is finely cut and tightly structured, with a vivid, almost nervous energy that gives way to a precise, mineral finish. It is a Champagne that will continue to evolve beautifully with time, and its firm structure suggests strong aging potential. The blend’s balance of base wine and 5% still red Pinot Noir adds both texture and nuance, while the dosage of 8 g/L keeps the wine poised and expressive. La Grande Année Rosé 2018 is sourced from top Champagne vineyards with the house’s hallmark emphasis on quality and terroir expression. Bollinger is known for traditional vinification methods, including careful selection of grapes and the incorporation of still red Pinot Noir from the historic Coteaux des Enfants parcel in Aÿ, which lends color, depth, and complexity. The wine was disgorged in August 2021, allowing extra time on lees and contributing to its restrained, structured profile.
