Description
Bollinger La Grande Année Rosé 2015 is a powerful, finely etched Champagne that shows exactly why Bollinger remains one of the great names of the region. Built on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it combines depth, tension, and unmistakable character, with a style that avoids the overripe sweetness often found in prestige rosé Champagne.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it presents a refined salmon-pink hue with a persistent, fine mousse. The nose is expressive and layered, offering blood orange, cranberry, brioche, and a subtle note of nectarine stone, all framed by a discreet savoury complexity.
On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, muscular yet poised, with a crisp core of fruit and a structured, vinous texture. The dosage is beautifully integrated, allowing the wine’s mineral and saline finish to shine. This is a Champagne with excellent aging potential, capable of developing even more depth and nuance over the coming years.
Production
La Grande Année Rosé 2015 is made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sourced from carefully selected Premier and Grand Cru sites in Champagne, where chalky soils and the cooler climate help preserve freshness and precision. The wine was disgorged in February 2024 with a dosage of 7 grams per litre, reflecting a restrained and balanced approach. As with Bollinger’s top cuvées, the emphasis is on long lees aging and meticulous vinification to build complexity, texture, and length.
Food & Serving
This Champagne is an excellent match for refined dishes such as lobster, tuna tartare, duck breast, salmon, or poultry with a light berry glaze. It also works beautifully with fine charcuterie and aged hard cheeses. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and decanting is not necessary, though a short rest in the glass will help the aromas unfold.
Producer
Founded in 1829, Bollinger is one of Champagne’s most respected houses, known for its deep Pinot Noir-driven style, patient cellar aging, and unwavering commitment to quality. Based in Aÿ, the house has become a benchmark for structured, vinous Champagne and has earned a global reputation for producing wines of richness, precision, and remarkable longevity.
