Berlucchi '61 Franciacorta Saten Brut

Berlucchi ’61 Satèn Brut is a Blanc de Blancs Franciacorta made entirely from Chardonnay, with a fine, creamy mousse that sets the Satèn style apart. Its name recalls 1961, when Guido Berlucchi and winemaker Franco Ziliani produced the wine that helped establish traditional-method sparkling wine in Franciacorta.

Tasting Notes
Pale straw in colour, it opens with aromas of white flowers, citrus and ripe orchard fruit, with subtle notes of pastry. The palate is fresh and balanced, with delicate bubbles and a soft, rounded texture.

Production
Made in Franciacorta, Lombardy, from Chardonnay grown in the region’s varied glacial and mineral-rich soils. The wine is made using the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle; Satèn wines are produced at lower pressure than standard Franciacorta, giving them their characteristically gentle mousse. Franciacorta regulations require extended bottle ageing, though the exact maturation for this cuvée can vary by release.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled, around 6–8°C. Its gentle texture and freshness suit seafood, shellfish, delicate risotto and mild cheeses. Decanting is not recommended; pour carefully into a flute or, for more room to express its aromas, a tulip-shaped sparkling-wine glass.

Producer
Founded by Guido Berlucchi in Franciacorta, the estate became a pioneer of traditional-method sparkling wine in the region through the work of Berlucchi and Franco Ziliani. The 1961 cuvée is a tribute to that milestone and to the producer’s role in Franciacorta’s rise as one of Italy’s leading sparkling-wine appellations.
