Bergström La Spirale 2022

Bergström La Spirale 2022 is a beautifully refined Pinot Noir from one of Willamette Valley’s small but highly expressive vineyards. Planted in 2005 and taken over by Bergström in 2018, La Spirale stands out for its mineral-rich soils, giving the wine remarkable complexity, precision, and a distinctly elegant sense of place.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a gorgeous ruby-red color. The nose is lifted and aromatic, with notes of strawberry, raspberry, red cherry, rose petals, violet, lily, and a subtle spice nuance. The palate is bright, focused, and on the more intense side, layered with strawberry, red cherry, pomegranate, cranberry, and tea-like accents. It is top-class in balance and finesse, and while already impressive now, it has the structure and depth to develop beautifully over time.

Production
La Spirale is a small vineyard site in Willamette Valley, Oregon, with soils especially rich in minerals, which contribute to the wine’s depth and complexity. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand, and after fermentation the wine is aged by winemaker Josh Bergström in a combination of new and used oak barrels to preserve elegance while adding subtle texture and dimension.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with duck, roast chicken, pheasant, salmon, mushroom dishes, and lighter game preparations. Serve it slightly chilled at around 15-17°C, and decanting is not essential but can be beneficial if opening the wine young to allow the aromatics to fully unfold.
