Benanti Etna Rosso 2023 is a poised and expressive Sicilian red that captures the character of Mount Etna in a fresh, elegant style. Made from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, it combines red-fruited brightness with subtle oak influence and the mineral energy that has made Etna one of Italy’s most exciting wine regions.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a light ruby-red color with faint violet reflections, signaling both freshness and youthful vibrancy. The nose is generous and inviting, with aromas of red berries and cherries lifted by a gentle hint of vanilla from its time in oak. On the palate, the wine is dry, well balanced, and refined, with lively acidity and a light tannic grip that gives it shape without heaviness. It feels harmonious and persistent, with clean red-fruit flavors that linger nicely. Thanks to its structure and freshness, it can develop further over the next few years, gaining more complexity with time.

Production
This wine comes from Etna, where volcanic soils and the cooler conditions of Sicily’s higher-altitude vineyards help create wines with tension, finesse, and distinctive mineral character. The grapes are vinified on the skins with a long maceration to build flavor and structure, then undergo malolactic fermentation before aging in small 225-liter barrels for 8–10 months, adding subtle spice and roundness to the final blend.
