Description
Arterberry Maresh Weber Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 is a beautifully restrained Oregon Pinot Noir that highlights the character of old vines planted in 1983 on the east-facing Weber Vineyard. Crafted with a light touch and a strong focus on purity, it reflects the elegance and finesse that have made Arterberry Maresh one of the most respected names in the region.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows a graceful, translucent ruby color. The nose is expressive and layered, with sweet cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, forest floor, and delicate floral notes unfolding with air.
On the palate, blackberry and cranberry lead the way, joined by raspberry, plum, cherry liqueur, and a subtle touch of almond essence. A faint smoky nuance adds depth, while the texture remains silky and refined. The finish is long, supple, and lifted, with the structure to develop further complexity over the next several years.
Production
The grapes come from Weber Vineyard, where the vines were planted in 1983 and are Pommard clones of Pinot Noir. The east-facing site gives the fruit a slightly different sun exposure than many neighboring vineyards, contributing to a distinctive yet highly elegant expression of Pinot Noir. Harvested entirely by hand, the wine was made with minimal intervention to preserve the purity of the fruit. It was aged for 16 months in French oak, with only 5-10% new barrels, allowing the vineyard character to remain front and center.
Food & Serving
This Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with roast duck, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, veal, or earthy vegetable dishes such as truffled pasta or lentils. Serve it slightly cool at around 15-16°C, and decant gently if desired, though it will also show beautifully straight from the bottle. A short decant can help open the wine’s floral and red-fruited aromatics.
