Description
Domaine Armand Rousseau’s Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru Clos des Ruchottes 2014 is a beautifully poised expression of one of Burgundy’s most exclusive sites. Made from 100% Pinot Noir in a tiny, sought-after parcel, it captures the domaine’s hallmark style: precision, elegance, and a deep sense of terroir. This is a wine with real pedigree, coming from a legendary name in Burgundy and a historic Grand Cru vineyard.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, light ruby colour that hints at its finesse rather than power. The nose is layered and refined, with red cherry, raspberry, floral notes, spice, and a subtle earthy undertone that brings real complexity.
The palate is medium to full-bodied, with silky tannins and lively acidity that give the wine shape and lift. Pure red fruit, gentle spice, and a distinct mineral line lead into a long, harmonious finish. It already offers plenty of charm, but it also has the structure and depth to age gracefully for many years, developing more savoury notes of leather, tobacco, and truffle with time.
Production
Clos des Ruchottes is a small, highly prized parcel within Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru, known for its exceptional limestone-rich soils. This terroir favours finesse, tension, and aromatic precision, all of which are clearly reflected in the wine. The 2014 vintage benefited from a cool growing season followed by a warm finish, allowing the Pinot Noir to ripen evenly while retaining freshness and vibrant acidity. The result is a wine that combines purity of fruit with elegant structure and clear site expression.
Food & Serving
This Grand Cru pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast duck, squab, guinea fowl, veal, or mushroom-based dishes like risotto or ragout. It also works wonderfully with tender lamb and lightly aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if drinking young to allow the aromatics to open fully.

Domaine Armand Rousseau is one of Burgundy’s most revered producers, with a reputation built on consistency, quality, and an exceptional portfolio of Grand Cru vineyards.
