Description

Domaine Armand Rousseau’s Mazy-Chambertin Grand Cru 2013 is a beautifully poised expression of one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most celebrated vineyards. Coming from a legendary Burgundy estate known for finesse, depth and exceptional site selection, this wine captures both the power and elegance that have made Rousseau a benchmark producer in the region.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the classic refinement of great red Burgundy, with a bright, translucent ruby colour that hints at its youthful energy and Grand Cru pedigree. The nose is layered and inviting, opening with ripe red cherry and raspberry, followed by rose petal, spice and a subtle earthy, mineral edge. On the palate, the wine is fresh, precise and beautifully structured, with silky tannins and vibrant acidity carrying the red fruit core. There is impressive length and a fine, savoury finish that speaks to both the vineyard’s character and Rousseau’s restrained style. While already expressive, it has the balance and concentration to age gracefully for many years.

Production
Mazy-Chambertin lies in the Grand Cru vineyards of Gevrey-Chambertin in northern Burgundy, a site known for producing Pinot Noir with intensity, structure and aromatic elegance. The 2013 vintage was cool and demanding, but careful vineyard work and attentive cellar practice allowed Domaine Armand Rousseau to preserve freshness and detail in the finished wine. Vinification is carried out with a traditional Burgundy approach, aimed at highlighting purity of fruit, texture and terroir expression rather than heavy extraction.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast duck, pigeon, game birds, veal, mushroom-based dishes and truffled cuisine. It is best served at around 16–18°C, and decanting for about 30–60 minutes can help раскрыte its aromatic complexity, especially if opened young. If cellared, it will continue to develop depth and nuance over time.

Producer
Domaine Armand Rousseau is one of the most esteemed names in Burgundy, with a long-standing reputation for crafting some of the region’s most sought-after Pinot Noir wines. Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, the domaine has become synonymous with precision, consistency and exceptional vineyard expression. Its Grand Cru bottlings are highly respected by collectors and critics alike, reflecting a legacy that has helped define modern Burgundy.
