Description

Domaine Armand Rousseau’s Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques 2014 is one of the most coveted wines from this legendary estate, and for many Burgundy lovers it stands shoulder to shoulder with the region’s Grand Cru sites. Clos St. Jacques is renowned for combining depth, precision and perfume, while Rousseau’s meticulous craftsmanship gives the wine its signature balance of power and elegance.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2014 vintage shows the cool, classically styled character for which Burgundy is so admired. Expect a beautifully expressive bouquet of ripe cherry, raspberry, violet and rose, layered with hints of spice, white pepper and forest floor. On the palate, the wine is poised and energetic, with bright acidity and refined, well-integrated tannins shaping a sleek, focused profile. The fruit and mineral notes remain clear and pure throughout, leading to a long, persistent finish. While already highly compelling, it has the structure and balance to evolve gracefully for 15–20 years or more.

Production
Produced from Pinot Noir grown in the prized Clos St. Jacques vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin, this wine reflects one of Burgundy’s great terroirs, where complex soils and an ideal slope bring both concentration and finesse. The 2014 season delivered a cooler, elegant style that emphasized freshness, precision and aromatic lift. At Domaine Armand Rousseau, the fruit is typically handled with great care to preserve purity and site expression, resulting in a wine that is transparent, detailed and deeply tied to its origin.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for fine poultry, roasted duck, game birds, veal, or earthy dishes such as mushroom risotto and truffle-accented preparations. Serve at around 16–18°C to allow the aromatics and structure to unfold fully. Decanting is recommended if opening young, though a gentle decant is best to preserve the wine’s delicate perfume.

Producer
Domaine Armand Rousseau is one of Burgundy’s most iconic and respected producers, with a long-standing reputation for crafting benchmark Pinot Noir from Gevrey-Chambertin and beyond. Founded in the early 20th century and now a name synonymous with precision and prestige, the domaine has earned its place among the great estates of the region. Its wines are celebrated worldwide for their purity, longevity and exceptional sense of place.
