Description

Domaine Armand Rousseau’s Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques 2010 is a benchmark expression of top-tier Burgundy Pinot Noir. Sourced from one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most revered premier cru sites, it combines precision, power, and finesse in a style that has made Rousseau one of the most admired names in the region.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a brilliant deep ruby color that hints at its depth and concentration. The nose opens with layers of ripe cherry, strawberry, and red berry fruit, lifted by subtle spice, forest floor, and a refined mineral edge. On the palate, the wine is beautifully balanced, with silky tannins, bright acidity, and a graceful core of red fruit wrapped in delicate savory nuances. The finish is long, poised, and elegant, with the complexity and structure to evolve beautifully over time. This is a wine with excellent aging potential and will continue to gain nuance and depth with cellar time.

Production
Clos Saint-Jacques is one of the standout climats of Gevrey-Chambertin, prized for its limestone-rich soils and exceptional exposure, which help produce Pinot Noir of both intensity and elegance. The 2010 vintage benefited from a growing season that delivered freshness, structure, and aromatic purity, allowing for careful harvesting of ripe, healthy fruit. As with the best Burgundy wines, vinification focuses on preserving the character of the vineyard, with gentle handling to maintain finesse, texture, and site expression.

Food & Serving
This is an ideal match for refined dishes such as roast duck, veal, game birds, mushroom-based preparations, or beef tenderloin with a light wine sauce. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if serving young or after long cellar time to let the aromatics fully open.

Producer
Domaine Armand Rousseau is one of Burgundy’s most iconic estates, with a long-standing reputation for producing wines of remarkable purity, elegance, and longevity. Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, the domaine is especially celebrated for its holdings in some of the Côte de Nuits’ finest vineyards, including Clos Saint-Jacques and several grand cru sites. Its wines are highly sought after worldwide and are widely regarded as reference points for classic Burgundy.
