Description
Domaine Armand Rousseau’s Gevrey-Chambertin 2010 is a standout village-level Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most revered names. Even at this more approachable level, it shows the refinement, purity, and site expression that have made Rousseau a benchmark producer in Gevrey-Chambertin for generations.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the classic polish of mature Burgundy, with a bright ruby core and subtle evolution at the rim. The nose is lifted and precise, offering red cherry, raspberry, gentle spice, forest floor, and a fine mineral edge.
On the palate, the wine is beautifully balanced, with fresh acidity, silky yet structured tannins, and a graceful, medium-bodied texture. Layers of red fruit, earth, and spice unfold steadily, finishing long and savory with a hint of wild woodland character. It is enjoyable now, but should continue to gain complexity over the next 5–10 years.
Production
Sourced from Gevrey-Chambertin in the Côte de Nuits, the wine reflects the commune’s darker, more structured style while retaining the elegance that defines Rousseau. The 2010 vintage in Burgundy was marked by cool conditions that delivered freshness, fine tannins, and excellent aromatic precision. Vinification is handled with a focus on purity and balance, allowing the character of the fruit and terroir to remain front and center.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs naturally with roast duck, game birds, mushroom dishes, lamb, and simply prepared veal or poultry. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant gently if opening young or if you want to help the aromatics open more quickly; older bottles may only need a brief decant or none at all.
Producer
Domaine Armand Rousseau is one of Burgundy’s most iconic domaines, founded in the early 20th century and long associated with some of the finest wines of Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate is especially celebrated for its Grand Crus, but its village wines also showcase the same commitment to precision, elegance, and terroir expression. Today, Rousseau remains a reference point for collectors and Burgundy lovers worldwide.
