Description

Elio Altare’s Barolo Arborina is a 100% Nebbiolo from the renowned La Morra area, combining the grape’s characteristic depth with an elegant, expressive style. Made using short skin maceration and aged in barriques, it reflects the modern approach that helped shape Barolo’s recent history.

Tasting Notes
The wine is clear ruby red, with garnet highlights. Its aromatic profile is fruit-forward and floral, while the palate is warm and elegant, finishing with distinctive notes of menthol and liquorice. Nebbiolo’s structure gives Barolo the capacity to develop with age. This bottling can be enjoyed young after some time to breathe, or cellared to allow its aromas and flavours to evolve.

Production
Produced by Elio Altare in La Morra, within the Barolo DOCG, this wine is made entirely from Nebbiolo. The grapes undergo skin maceration for 3–4 days in temperature-controlled rotofermenters, followed by 24 months of ageing in barriques. Harvesting details are not provided.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C with braised beef, roast lamb, game or dishes featuring truffle and mushrooms. Decant for about an hour before serving, particularly when the wine is young, to give its aromas time to open.

Elio Altare is a leading name in La Morra and one of the influential figures in Barolo’s modern movement. His progressive winemaking approach helped bring shorter macerations and French barriques into the region’s conversation, while his wines remain closely associated with Nebbiolo and the character of their vineyard origins.
