Adelina Estate Grenache 2022 is a striking example of pure Grenache, showing just how refined and lifted the variety can be in the right hands. Crafted by winemaker Colin McBryde from organically farmed, old-vine fruit in Clare Valley, it combines depth and freshness with remarkable poise. From vines planted around 80 years ago, this is a wine with both heritage and real cellaring promise.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows vibrant, polished red fruit with a bright and appealing colour that hints at its energy and finesse. The nose is expressive and layered, unfolding with strawberries, raspberries, red cherries, a subtle fennel note, Earl Grey tea and a touch of orange peel. The palate is elegant yet substantial, balancing classic Grenache generosity with a more modern sense of lift and precision. There is fine texture, lively fruit and a long, energetic finish that keeps the wine feeling fresh rather than heavy. Already highly enjoyable, it also has excellent aging potential and should develop beautifully over time.

Production
The fruit comes from Adelina’s own organically farmed vineyard in Clare Valley, South Australia, where 80-year-old Grenache vines grow in a region known for its continental climate and quality red-wine sites. All fruit was destemmed before pressing, helping preserve purity and freshness in the finished wine. It then matured for 11 months in large neutral oak, allowing the old-vine fruit and site character to take centre stage without strong oak influence.

Food & Serving
This Grenache is a natural match for roasted lamb, grilled duck, charred vegetables, mushroom dishes and Mediterranean-style food with herbs and olive oil. Serve it slightly cool, ideally around 16–18°C, to bring out its freshness and detail. Decanting for about 30 minutes is recommended if drinking young, especially if you want to soften the structure and open up the aromatics.
