Aalto PS 2022 Magnum

Aalto PS 2022 Magnum is a flagship Ribera del Duero red crafted from 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), sourced from carefully selected old-vine parcels in La Horra and La Aguilera. The combination of exceptional fruit concentration, meticulous hand harvesting, and a magnum format makes this a wine built for both immediate impact and long-term cellaring.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red color that hints at its intensity. The nose is powerful and layered, opening with dark berries, liquorice, and subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and persistent, with impressive structure, volume, and a sense of richness that reflects the warm 2022 vintage. The 60- to 90-year-old vines contribute remarkable depth and concentration, while aging in new French oak adds polish, elegance, and complexity. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, capable of developing further nuance and harmony over time.

Production
Aalto PS comes from selected vineyard parcels in La Horra and La Aguilera, two highly regarded sites in Castilla y León known for producing intensely flavored Tempranillo. The vines are between 60 and 90 years old, grown for naturally low yields and exceptional fruit quality. Harvesting is done entirely by hand in small 15 kg boxes, followed by a rigorous sorting of every cluster to ensure only the best grapes are used. Vinification is focused on preserving the purity and concentration of the fruit, with maturation for an average of 20 months in new French oak barrels to build structure, depth, and refinement.

Food & Serving
This is a wine that pairs beautifully with rich dishes such as roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, game, braised short ribs, or mature hard cheeses. It is best served at 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended to allow the aromas to open and the tannins to soften.
