Aalto PS 2019 Dobbeltmagnum

Aalto PS 2019 in double magnum is the powerhouse expression of one of Ribera del Duero’s most admired modern Tempranillos. Sourced from old-vine parcels in La Horra and La Aguilera, it offers an extra level of concentration, depth and polish, with the structure and intensity that have made Aalto a benchmark name in Castilla y León.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it is nearly ink-black, hinting immediately at its richness and scale. The nose is packed with ripe blueberry, blackberry and dark plum, lifted by pronounced barrel notes and a subtle touch of chocolate. The palate is opulent and layered, unfolding with blackberry, plum liqueur, liquorice, vanilla, spice, coffee beans and tobacco. Despite its generosity, the wine remains structured, nuanced and complex, with excellent aging potential and plenty of room to evolve further over the years.

Production
PS (Pagos Seleccionadas) is made from carefully chosen plots in La Horra and La Aguilera, where 60- to 90-year-old vines grow in the heart of Castilla y León. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and meticulously sorted before vinification. The wine is then aged for 19 months in new French oak, which adds depth, polish and aromatic complexity to the naturally powerful fruit.

Food & Serving
This is a serious wine that calls for equally serious food, especially well-marbled beef, crost beef of top quality, roasted lamb or richly sauced game dishes. If opened now, it benefits from being paired with robust, savory flavors. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant generously to allow the wine to open up and soften its formidable structure.
