Aalto PS 2018 Magnum is a powerhouse expression of Tempranillo from some of the finest old vines in Castilla y León. Sourced from selected parcels and crafted with exceptional concentration and depth, this is Aalto dialled up to the next level—rich, powerful, and built with the kind of intensity that has made the PS bottling a benchmark for premium Ribera-style reds.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an almost ink-black colour, hinting at its remarkable density and extraction. The nose is vivid and fruit-driven, with aromas of blueberry, blackberry and dark plum, layered with oak spice, chocolate and a subtle smoky edge. The palate is opulent and expansive, unfolding with blackberries, plum liqueur, liquorice, vanilla, warm spices, coffee beans and tobacco. Despite its generosity, the wine remains structured, nuanced and complex, with the depth and framework to develop beautifully over time. Drinkability is already impressive, but the magnum format will support long ageing and slow evolution.

Production
The grapes for PS (Pagos Seleccionadas) come from carefully chosen parcels in La Horra and La Aguilera, where 60–90-year-old vines deliver naturally low yields and exceptional concentration. Harvest is carried out entirely by hand, with meticulous fruit selection before vinification. The wine is then aged for 19 months in new French oak barrels, which adds polish, spice and further complexity to the final blend.

Food & Serving
This is a wine that calls for equally serious food, especially richly flavoured dishes such as dry-aged beef, grilled ribeye, lamb chops or slow-braised game. If serving it now, decant generously and aim for a temperature of around 16–18°C to allow the aromas and texture to open fully.
