Aalto 2019 in double magnum format is a striking expression of Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, combining depth, polish, and serious cellaring potential. Produced by Bodegas Aalto, it brings together fruit from old vines and carefully tended younger parcels to deliver a wine with both power and finesse.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep, dark color in the glass, hinting at its concentration and richness. Aromas open with ripe blackberries, black cherries, spice, liquorice, roasted coffee, and subtle oak tones. On the palate, it is dense and focused, with layered dark fruit, well-integrated wood influence, and ripe tannins that give structure without harshness. The finish is long and harmonious, and the double magnum format supports slower evolution, making this an excellent choice for extended ageing.

Production
Aalto 2019 is made from Tempranillo sourced from 40- to 80-year-old vines on leased parcels, alongside younger vines from Aalto’s own vineyards in Valladolid. The grapes are harvested by hand with rigorous selection to ensure only the best fruit enters the cellar. After vinification, the wine is matured for 16 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak barrels, adding complexity while preserving the purity of the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is an ideal wine for larger dinners and celebratory occasions, especially alongside grilled beef, slow-roasted lamb, venison, or rich game dishes. Serve at 16-18°C and decant before pouring to allow the aromas and structure to fully open up.
